Precision in motion.
With TechSteps.

Across the country, police officers, firefighters, utility crews, and field technicians depend on Panasonic Toughbook devices, rugged laptops, and tablets built to withstand harsh environments where reliability is essential. To demonstrate how Panasonic keeps these teams connected and efficient, its ProServices division partnered with Obscura Pictures and Panasonic’s content partner to produce a two-minute animated explainer.

The completed animation, now featured on Panasonic’s official Toughbook channel, illustrates how thoughtful design and storytelling can make complex technology easier to understand.

The goal was to show how IT teams and fleet managers coordinate hundreds of components, vendors, and installation details, and how Panasonic streamlines that process. TechSteps helped bring the story to life through 2D animation in Adobe After Effects and custom design assets in Illustrator and Photoshop. The result was a fast, icon-driven explainer that captured the precision and pressure of real-world fleet deployments, highlighting how ProServices supports every stage of the Toughbook lifecycle from planning and kitting to installation and support.

Working closely with Nathan Catucci, founder of Obscura Pictures and award-winning director of the feature film Impossible Monsters (2020), TechSteps developed the motion system and design framework to align exactly with Panasonic’s brand language and ProServices brochure.

“TechSteps was a key creative partner on this one. Their design and motion work helped bring Panasonic’s story to life with real polish.”

The team worked iteratively through storyboards and timing passes, refining motion cues to match the script’s pacing and tone. This resulted in a clear, confident visual story that emphasizes Panasonic’s commitment to partnership, safety, and performance in every deployment.
